About Precision Components

Precision Components & Machine Works was founded in 2003 by our president, a second-generation machinist with a vision for building a world-class precision machining operation in West Michigan. Over 22 years, we've grown from a 3-person startup into a 28-employee operation serving three of the nation's largest aerospace and defense prime contractors.

Operating from a 24,000 square foot facility equipped with advanced 5-axis CNC mills, Swiss-type lathes, and wire EDM machines, we handle job orders ranging from $5,000 prototype runs to $250,000 production contracts. Our equipment carries a weighted average age of 9.2 years — modern enough for tight tolerances, proven enough for reliability.

Our AS9100 Rev D certification — maintained continuously for 14 years — represents a significant competitive barrier. New entrants face 12-18 months and $80,000-$120,000 in costs to achieve initial certification. Our long-term supply agreements with anchor customers extend through 2027-2029, providing exceptional revenue visibility.

Machining Capabilities

5-Axis CNC Milling

Advanced 5-axis simultaneous milling for complex aerospace geometries and turbine components. Tolerances to ±0.0002". Materials include titanium, Inconel, aluminum, and stainless steel alloys.

Swiss-Type CNC Turning

High-precision Swiss-type lathes for small-diameter, high-volume components. Ideal for medical device pins, aerospace fasteners, and automotive valve components. Live tooling capable.

Wire EDM

Wire electrical discharge machining for hardened materials and intricate profiles that conventional machining cannot achieve. Used extensively for aerospace tooling and die components.

CNC Turning

Multi-axis CNC lathes with live tooling for turned components up to 12" diameter. Bar-fed automation for production runs. Secondary operations including threading, grooving, and knurling.

Assembly & Sub-Assembly

Light mechanical assembly, press-fit operations, and kit-building for customers requiring turnkey component delivery. Cleanroom-adjacent assembly area for medical components.

Inspection & Quality

CMM inspection, optical measurement, surface finish analysis, and full dimensional reporting. All work inspected to customer drawing specifications with AS9100-compliant documentation.

Markets Served

Aerospace & Defense 52%

Tier 2 supplier to 3 major aerospace/defense primes. Flight-critical and structural components. 68% revenue concentration from anchor OEM customers.

Automotive (Powertrain & EV) 31%

Precision components for powertrain systems and emerging EV drivetrain applications. Growing segment driven by electrification supply chain demand.

General Industrial & Medical Devices 17%

Surgical instrument components, industrial automation parts, and specialty tooling. Diversification strategy to reduce aerospace concentration.

Quality Management

Our quality management system has been AS9100-registered continuously since 2011. This certification represents one of the most significant barriers to entry in precision aerospace machining — new applicants face 12-18 months of preparation and $80,000-$120,000 in audit and implementation costs.

Our founder serves as the company's Quality Management Representative, personally overseeing all QMS processes, customer audits, and corrective actions. Every component leaving our facility is accompanied by a full Certificate of Conformance with dimensional inspection data.
